Indoor outdoor carpet is a type of carpet often used around pools, play rooms, decks, walk ways, patios, and porches It is durability allows it to endure moisture, weather, and pool chemicals. This carpet isn't as expensive as regular carpet and it gives a room a homier look.

Olefin is the best material for indoor outdoor carpet. Olefin carpet is generally treated to be stain and moisture resistant. Most carpets are treated to protect against fading and damage from pool chemicals. The additional chemicals the manufactures use prolong the carpets life. Manufactures do recommend treating your carpet every few years to maintain the resistance otherwise it will break down over time.

The thicker the carpet the higher the quality tends to be. Higher quality indoor outdoor carpet usually has marina backing. This is especially important if you plan to use your carpet in areas where it will be exposed to moisture. It is the backing that stops problems mold and mildew.

Indoor outdoor carpet comes in a variety of colors styles and textures. The most popular seem to be the earth tone; green brown grey and black.

Outdoor plush carpets are nice for areas that are completely covered. It has a different look and feel from other types of outdoor carpets. Like the other carpet you should use higher grade for higher activities.

Astro turf is the last type of indoor outdoor carpet I will talk about. There are three kind's nylon, polyethylene and polypropylene. Polypropylene is used in golf course and is least expensive. Because of its soft material polyethylene is ideal for play areas. The last is nylon which you will often find on golf courses and playgrounds.

Outdoor carpet runners are small pieces of indoor outdoor carpet placed in entrance ways. This carpet needs to be at least 5/16" thick. It should have a backing that keeps it in place and prevents people from slipping. It like the other carpet should be treated to prevent stains and moisture builds up.

Before purchasing compare density and backing. The thicker the carpet the longer it will last and it will feel better to walk across. Make sure it has a moisture barrier if there is any chance that it will get wet. You would want to choose a higher quality thicker carpet if you plan to use it in areas with a lot of activities
