This chapter is entitled "Set The Table." this chapter is about deciding to what you want to do with your life. Brian Tracy starts his chapter with a quote from Napoleon Hill. Hill says, "There is one quality that one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to achieve it." You need to decide what you're going to do before you start eating frogs. When deciding what to moment means being clear, absolutely clear, about your objectives and goals. This is why so many of us procrastinate. Because we don't know what we want. Brian Tracy answered, "The major reason for procrastination and lack of motivation is weakness, confusion, and fuzzy-mindedness about what we're trying to do and in what order and for what reason." We get distracted by too many things in our lives. We check our e-mail, we answer our phones, and pretty soon we're off track. In this chapter, Brian Tracy establishes seven steps to increase output. 1. "Decide what you want." This is not a guessing game. This is an exact thing. It's tough to decide what you want. There are so many things we like to do. 2. "Write it down." If you don't write it down, you'll forget. Or you'll keeping your goals. With a written down goal you will stay more focused. 3. "Set a deadline on your goal; set subdeadlines if necessary." Deadlines create urgency.but you also need consequences. Too often we let deadlines slip by without giving them a second glance. 4. "Make a list of everything that you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goal." We make this list you are going to make sure that you don't need anything off. The truth is that most of us are not disciplined enough to do this. It can be quite daunting. Especially if you have lofty goals. But if you skip this step, you will most likely miss your goal. 5. "Organize the list into a plan." This is what is called prioritizing. Prioritizing is merely deciding what needs to be get done first and then going through the list item item and deciding which order to do them. This'll make your goal reaching a whole lot easier. 6. "Take action on your plan immediately." Brian Tracy says, "an average plan vigorously executed is far better than a brilliant plan in which nothing is done." That means you need to do something right now that works towards her goal. If you do this every day, you will gain momentum. As you gain momentum you will get more and more of your goals and dreams. 7. "Resolve to do something every single day that moves you toward your major goal." It has to be every day. He can't make up for the time. We can't skip days. We think that it won't matter if we don't do something on a given day. But it matters. One of the things we choose to do can be small things. We can read about a key subject, or make a certain number of calls, or decide to do something for specific amount of time. Brian Tracy's seven steps are a simple guidelines to help you reach your goals. But, you will need to be disciplined and you will need to decide what it is you want.
